While it was probably something you did as a child, Go Karting is a serious grassroots motorsports and is a challenge for all ages. It's the ultimate test of driver skill which puts the emphasis on technique rather than horsepower to achieve fast lap times.
Almost all professional drivers start in Go Karting and often continue to return to karting throughout their careers to continue building their skills. Go Karting techniques directly translate into all other forms of motorsports and even to on road driving skills.
Go Karting is the safest way to develop "wheel to wheel" racing skills and experience with other drivers. It is also available year round with Outdoor and Indoor facilities for you to enjoy.
One of the best ways to start is to take a introductory course which teaches the basics of racing a go kart. Almost all of the skills will be transferrable to other forms of grassroots motorsports such as track driving and auto slalom. There are tailored programs for adults and children are require no prior experience.
Introductory Programs:
Arrive and drive programs allow drivers of any skill or experience to show up, pay a fee and jump right into a kart race. It's a great casual way to ease into grassroots motorsports and see if it's the sport for you.
It's also a great way to spend an evening with friends and family and battle it out for the top of the podium.
Arrive and Drive Programs:
If you are feeling competitive and want to challenge yourself against other drivers in wheel to wheel racing, then Karting Leagues are for you. Each series features a more serious format that mimics real racing series with practice, qualifying and positional races for points. It's the safest most economical way to get into true grassroots competitive racing and is where almost all professional drivers start.
Karting Leagues / Private Events
There are a number of premier outdoor Go Kart track facilities all through Southern Ontario. These facilities feature real "race" go karts that are significantly faster than indoor karts (up to 80KM/HR). Typically you will need to either book in advanced for a private rental or utilize the arrive and drive karting series each facility offers. They operate seasonally and are typically open from April to October depending on the weather.
Indoor Go Karting facilities have the benefit of running year round with many locations in Southern Ontario. While speeds are limited to 45KM/HR indoors, the tighter technical course designs present a unique challenge to drivers of all skills. Drivers will need to rely on there core fundamentals and car control to eek out every last bit of grip to be able to pass other competitors.
